Beverly Sparks was born on November 1, 1932 in Sioux City, Iowa to Ruth and Galen “Lefty” Huffman. Beverly had many passions in life and was skilled with her hands. She used her artistic abilities and creativity to craft beautiful clothing, quilts and porcelain dolls, among other things.
Beverly worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone until she married Gene on February 17, 1952. She dedicated herself to her family and her community by serving as a Girl Scout leader, participating in her church choir and traveling as a sponsor for the Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps. She was known for her love of shopping and always had impeccable style. Beverly loved to spend time with family and friends playing tennis, fishing, and gardening.
Beverly passed away peacefully in the presence of her husband on May 31st, 2018.
Beverly is survived by her husband, Gene Sparks, daughters Denise Milligan, Roxana Ward and Christe Gasser, sons-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at Polk Street United Methodist Church in Amarillo following a family graveside service at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
