Betty Marie Shelafo, 78, of Amarillo, TX passed away December 4, 2024.
Memorial service will be at 1:00 PM, Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Faith Southwest Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Mark Welshimer officiating. Private burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Amarillo.
Betty was born in Pampa, Texas on July 27, 1946, to Mildred (Parks) and John W. Sexton. She grew up in Amarillo, Texas. She attended Crockett Middle School and Tascosa High School where she played in the band. After Betty married, she moved to Denver, Colorado. While living in Denver, she began her family and had her two sons.
She went on to further her education and received her CMA degree. Betty worked for several doctors in Denver, Colorado, and Amarillo, Texas.
Betty was a faithful member of Faith Southwest Methodist Church.
Betty’s hobbies were sewing, embroidery, quilting, and cake decorating. She loved going to dog shows with her Doberman, CoCo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mildred Sexton; and a brother, JC Sexton.
She is survived by her two sons, Jason Shelafo, of Amarillo, Texas, and Court Shelafo and wife Kathy, of Phoenix, Arizona; granddaughter, Tesla Chapman; sister, Carol Blakley and husband John, of Amarillo, Texas; three nieces, Jill Thurston and husband Robert, Christy Olmsted, and Cathy Miller; two nephews, John Blakley, Jr. and wife Brenda, and Scot Blakley and wife Sara; five great-nieces, Katie, Allie, Kaleigh, Chloe, and Claire; eight great-nephews, Andy, Dawson, Grayson, Ryan, Noah, Matt, Aiden, and Blake; one great-great-niece, and one great-great-nephew.
