Sargent Obit PhotoBetty Sargent, 71, of Valle de Oro died Thursday, February 19th, 2015, in Valle de Oro.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Ken Haney, officiating. Burial will be immediately after at Memory Gardens. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Betty was born Oct. 5, 1943, in Picher, Oklahoma to Hobert LeRoy Armstrong and Maudean Faye Shelley.  She married Wayne Sargent in 1976, in Liberal, Kansas. Betty worked as a manager for The Kettle and Denny’s, until her retirement and then owned and operated Sarge’s Country Store in Valle de Oro. Betty had been a resident of Valle de Oro since 1978.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Wayne Sargent.

Survivors include  a son, David Schultz of Amarillo; three daughters, Teresa Irving of Amarillo, Kelly Jennings and husband Chris of Edmond, Okla., and Christine Acker and husband Doug of Amarillo; a sister, Mary Smith of Garfield, Arkansas; twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 2-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2015.

    I really enjoyed knowing Betty while I lived at the LS Ranch. She was a good good person and had compassion for everyone. My condolences and sympathy for all the family.
