Benny C. Dement

Benny C. Dement, 81, of Amarillo died Sunday, July 8, 2018.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 12, 2018, at Central Church of Christ Chapel.  Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Benny was born in Estacado, Tx on April 16, 1937 to B.C and Opal Dement.

Raised in Hereford TX, Benny graduated from Hereford High School before attending West Texas State University where he met his future wife, Wanda Phillips.

They graduated and married while Benny worked in management for JCPenney.  He soon decided to apply his retail management experience to the classroom and became a DECA coordinator working for 30 years for Amarillo and Canyon ISD. He touched the lives of many students before retiring in 1999.

While teaching, he also ran his own photography business for several years.

Benny was an active member and deacon at Central Church of Christ and enjoyed traveling in the summers and after retirement.

Benny is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Raymond and his sister Charlene.

Benny is survived by his wife of 54 years, Wanda Dement;- his daughter Kathi and son-in-law Larry Rodriguez of Flower Mound, TX; his grandson, Landon Kale Rodriguez and great grandson, Wilson Rodriguez of Edmond OK; and sister-in-law, Norma Dement of Amarillo.

Benny was blessed with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews whom he loved dearly.

Our lives are changed forever and nothing will be the same without him here with us. He will forever be loved and missed; but because of our hope and trust in Jesus, we will see him again one day.

The family will receive friends from 5-6:30 PM, Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at the funeral home.

    Blessings to the family during this difficult time. Mr. Dement was one of the best!! He will be missed dearly. I am thankful he was my teacher in high school.
