Arthur Carson Smith

Arthur Carson Smith passed away on August 28, 2024. He was born on February 23, 1936 in Foreman, AR. 

Carson is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen; two daughters, Stacey Smith of Amarillo and Jennifer Rosner and husband Rich Rosner of Dallas; grandson, James Elam of Houston; granddaughters, Grace Sullivan of New York, Sarah Sullivan and Becca Sullivan, both of Dallas. He is also survived by his sister, Judy Vallee Cash and her wife, Alma of Richardson; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Carson graduated from Culver Military Academy and earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and a Juris Doctorate from Southern Methodist University. He founded Carson Smith and Associates, a law firm in Amarillo. He was an active member of the State Bar of Texas and served as a member and past director of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and the Amarillo Bar Association. Carson was also a past president and member of the District 13 Grievance Committee. Additionally, he was a member of the American Trial Lawyers, a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and the College of the State Bar of Texas, where he served on the Board of Directors. Carson was also a member of the Lake Tanglewood Lions Club. 

Carson loved to entertain, often hosting get-togethers with Helen and their mutual friends. He was an avid golfer, loved to travel, and he enjoyed reading for both pleasure and education. Carson had a lifelong passion for learning. His dedication to the law, his commitment to helping others, and his love for his family were the hallmarks of his life. He was a good man.

A celebration of life will be held from 4-7:00 PM, Friday, November 8, 2024 at Amarillo Botanical Gardens. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
