Anna Jean Neel, 91, of Amarillo, TX died Tuesday, April 16, 2024.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 22, 2024, at Hillside Christian Church Chapel, 6100 S Soncy Rd with Greg Corona officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Jean was born December 1, 1932, in Centralia, MO to Ralph and Gladys Cox. Her family moved to Amarillo in 1944 and she graduated from Amarillo High School in 1951. She worked at several jobs after graduating and retired after 9 years at Tascosa High School to be with her family. Jean enjoyed travelling, fishing, and especially being with her family, enjoying many trips together. She was a member of Paramount Christian Church and was later called to Hillside Christian Church. Jean was involved with her church worship choir, senior life bible study, women’s circle and some mission work with Lamplighters Bible Class. She married Valjean Neel in 1952 and they made Amarillo their home. They were blessed with two daughters, Sherri and Lesa.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Valjean Neal; her parents, Ralph and Gladys Cox; and many other additional family members.
Survivors include her daughters, Sherri Gayle Evans and husband Joel, of Montrose, CO, and Lesa Ann Lemke, of McKinney, TX; four grandchildren, Stacie Evans, Jenny Abbott and husband Drew, Carly Lemke, and Austin Lemke; and four great-grandchildren, Jayden, Reese, Davis, and Dillon.
