Anita Louise Collier (nee Franklin) passed away on April 15, 2024, in Amarillo, Texas, at the age of 85. She was born on September 5, 1938, in Houston, Texas. She, along with her parents and siblings came to make the Texas Panhandle their home.
Anita’s life was defined by her love for her family. She raised two daughters to love God, respect their elders (or else!) and to treat others as they themselves wished to be treated. Her love may have been translated into a crocheted afghan, that had colors that were picked just for you, or maybe it was cooking a meal for your family because you had to work late. If you needed her, especially if it was in relation to a grandchild, “Mimi” was there, and was more than happy to help. Her grandchildren were some of the greatest joys in her life.
If you took the time to get to know her, you would know that while she couldn’t tell a joke (seriously, she could not!), she had a quick wit and at times a slight mischievous glint in her eyes when she knew she’d pulled one over on you. She was always up for a good game of Yahtzee, Acey-Deucy, or any number of card games she loved, and no one was surprised when she won! But she had other talents; her creativity led her to create beautiful jewelry and greeting cards. You felt special to be a recipient of her creations. But by far, her greatest achievement was to play a part in many names that are now written in the Book of Life because of the many hours of prayer she spent on her knees praying for those she loved.
Anita is survived by her daughter, Brenda Davis and husband Marvin; her son, Clay Collier and wife Leslie; her son-in-law, Leonard Eastepp; her grandchildren Sara (Micheal) Gilbert, Rebecca (Jason) Singleton, Ean (Jodi) Davis, Jennifer Ashabranner, Amanda (Antonio) Montoya, Ashlie (Aaron) Durham, Christopher Eastepp, Kyla (Star Raburn) Collier, Brian (Amanda) Collier; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Nancy Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Collier; daughter, Diana Eastepp; great-great-grandchild, Lincoln Kirkland; father, Olin Franklin; mother, Eva Franklin; and brothers, David Franklin and Alvin Franklin.
A memorial service to celebrate Anita’s life will be on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Crossroads Church, officiated by Pastor Chris Quinto. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
May Anita Louise Collier’s memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
