Amador “Sonny” Leal

With heavy hearts and fond memories, we say see you later to Amador “Sonny” Leal, who Easeeeed on Outta Here on April 27, 2023, at the age of 69.

A service will be held at 11 AM, Monday, May 1, 2023, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Pastor Jim Sinyard of Carpenter’s Church in Pampa, Texas officiating. The burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery in Quitaque, Texas. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors 2800 Paramount Blvd.  Sonny’s life was filled with love, laughter, and hard work, and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Sonny was born on March 12, 1954, in Orange Grove, Texas, to Cirildo and Lydia Leal. Growing up in Quitaque, Texas, with four sisters and two brothers, Sonny learned the value of family and hard work. He was a skilled carpenter, welder, rancher, and above all, a generous soul. He had a strong work ethic and was always organized, ensuring that everything was in its proper place.

One of Sonny’s greatest gifts was his sense of humor. He had a quick wit and could always make others laugh. When he wasn’t working, he loved spending time outdoors, gardening, blaring country music, riding his lawnmower, dancing, or simply enjoying a Coors Original and a goood cigarette. He also enjoyed watching old western movies, haunted stories, and Fox News while lounging in his pajama pants.

Sonny is survived by his loving wife, Romelia, and their daughters Daisy Michelle, Audriana Denise, and Isabella Noelle, as well as his son-in-laws Nikolas and Seth. He also leaves behind several loving family members: Christina, Cindy, Cirildo Jr, Sam, Esmiralda, Sonny Roy, Randy, Sonia and Criselda. He had several nieces and nephews who adored him, and he was especially fond of his grandsons Winston and Franklin.

Sonny had a passion for homing pigeons, and he had approximately 80 of them…and counting! He knew each one of his pigeons and loved them all dearly, and they brought him great joy and companionship.

In his passing, we will miss Sonny’s laughter, his jokes, and his unwavering love for his family and friends. We take solace in knowing that he is now reunited with his parents and his sisters Esnoelia, Maggie, and Esmiralda and his two baby girls Valerie and Valentine. We will miss him dearly, but we know that his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched. Sonny would want us to mention that with his passing, there will be one less vote on the Republican Party ballot for Donald Trump in 2024!

The family would like to express their gratitude to the amazing staff at BSA and the Harrington Cancer Center for their outstanding care and support throughout Sonny’s life. Sonny adored his nurses and affectionately referred to them as “sweeties.” He quickly became friends with his providers, including Dr. Holloway and Dr. Patel.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM, Sunday, April 30, 2023, at the funeral home.
