Alice Skelton-July 11, 2012

Alice Skelton was born on July 14, 1920 to Mary Hisel in Channing, Texas. She was born in the family home, a home in which she would later raise her own family and occupy for 80 plus years.
Her early years were spent growing up with her two sisters, Vick and Lillian. The sisters would remain life-long friends.
Alice married Guy Easley in 1938. The couple had a daughter, Marilyn. Guy passed away in February of 1945.
Alice married Red Skelton in December of 1945. Settling down in Channing, they had two sons, Roger and Bobby. Alice enjoyed a simple life in Channing. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church. Alice was fiercely independent, a hard worker and conscientious in her work at Channing Schools, the United States Post Office and in her home raising her children.
Alice enjoyed growing beautiful plants and vegetables in her homemade greenhouse and having friends and family over for good coffee and good conversation. She was known for being a straight-shooting card shark. Alice could take anyone down in Canasta, or any other card game for that matter. She saw and encountered her share of joys and tragedy, facing both head-on.
Alice passed from this life on July 11, 2012 in Amarillo, Texas. She had many loving caregivers at Emeritus of Liberal Springs in Liberal, Kansas, Frensenius Dialysis Center in Liberal, Kansas and BSA Hospice in Amarillo, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Vick Messinger, her first husband, Guy Easley and their daughter, Marilyn Piva, and her second husband, Red Skelton.
She is survived by a sister, Lillian Johnson; a son, Roger Skelton and his wife Jane, and their children, John and Tori Skelton, Jess and Megan Skelton, Jason and Jana Schreiner, Jerod and Julie McDaniel, and James and Lindsay Skelton.
Alice is also survived by a former daughter-in-law, Lin Twing and her husband, Kurt; a son, Bobby; Lin and Bobby’s children, Chris Skelton, David and Sister Skelton and Marilyn’s son, Steve Dickerson and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and beloved friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Channing, Texas. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
