Alice (Lorene) Honea

Alice (Lorene) Honea, 70, of Amarillo, TX went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 20, 2022. We rejoice that she is living with Jesus in Heaven, and we will see her again soon.

Celebration of Life will be at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at South Georgia Baptist Church.

Alice was born in Fayetteville, AR on September 19, 1951, to David and Aletta Irwin. She was the first of five children and grew up in Amarillo. She attended Palo Duro High School.

Alice loved to gamble and listen to music, mostly classic rock. In her earlier years, she loved gardening, riding horses, sewing, and she always loved a clean house. In fact, people that spent any time around her knew that her floors were so clean that you could eat off of them.

Alice was caring and rarely met a stranger. She had her own opinions and had no problem expressing them, whether you wanted to hear it or not. She had hilarious, sometimes inappropriate, sayings that she will be remembered for.

Most of all, Alice was caring, the best listener, and always gave the best advice. To know her was to love her.

She was preceded in death by her father, David Irwin; granny, Granny Mae Reed; uncle, Floyd Reed; nephews, Aaron Irwin; mother-in-law, Betty Honea; and father-in-law, Calvin Honea, Sr.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Calvin Honea; mother, Aletta Irwin; three daughters, Sandy Herrington, Melissa Banks and husband Steve; and Christina Burroughs and husband Jesse, all of Amarillo, TX; special daughter, Misti Kral; seven grandchildren, Colby Todd and wife Amanda, of Lubbock, TX, Kira Anthony, Chasity Herrington, Aiden Banks, Madi Banks, AJ Mears, Shylah Brown, and Callie Burroughs, all of Amarillo, TX; five great-grandchildren, Hazlei and Kambrye Todd, of Lubbock, TX, and Kordadrian, Kae’cyn, and Knowledge Monroe, of Amarillo, TX; brothers, Garry Irwin, Johnny Irwin, and Paul Irwin, of Amarillo, TX; sister, Dollie Pickens, of Amarillo, TX; dog, Peanut; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorial donations may be made in Alice’s name to SPCA or to the American Lung Association.
