Alfonso Ulibarri Chavez

Alfonso Ulibarri Chavez, 94, of Amarillo, TX passed away May 14, 2023. Viewing will be from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM Sunday, May 21, 2023, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 22, 2023, at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors 2800 Paramount Blvd, Amarillo, Texas 79109. Alfonso was born February 17, 1929, in Santa Rosa, NM to Guadalupe Chavez and Josefita Ulibarri Chavez.

He proudly served our country in the United States Army as a Korean War Veteran.

Alfonso is preceded in death by his father, Guadalupe Chavez, his mother Josefita Ulibarri Chavez, and his son Jimmy David Chavez as well as brothers, Jesus Chavez, Jose Chavez, and Eduardo Chavez, nephew Leroy Chavez,

and son-in-law Len Furmanek.

Alfonso is survived by his wife of 70 years Stella Chavez, son Jimmy’s surviving wife Terry Chavez of Amarillo TX, daughter Judy Pedeliski and husband Mike Pedeliski of Apex NC, son Jake (and puppy Javier) Chavez of Amarillo TX, daughter Barbara Berna and husband Delbert Berna of Brewton AL, Debbie Furmanek of Rio Rancho NM, sister Patsy Gallegos of Rio Rancho NM, brother Sammy Chavez of Santa Rosa NM, sister-in-law Agnes Nelson of Amarillo TX, brother-in-law Joe Nelson of Amarillo TX, 9 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Alfonso was a loving family man with a great sense of humor who will be dearly missed.
