Albert Warren Owen – October 13, 2012


Albert Warren Owen, 89, of Hereford, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012.
At Warren’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service.
Warren was born May 6, 1923, to Cleaves and Donnie Owen.  After graduating from Hereford High School, Warren joined the U.S. Coast Guard.  He was a life long resident of Hereford, where he established many business partnerships, Owens Electric, Owen Tanks, and Owl Feedyard to name a few.  Warren was a member of the Baptist Church of Hereford.
He is preceded in death by his father, Cleaves Owen; his mother, Donnie Stagner Owen; a sister, Jewell Cassels Hargrave and husbands Mike Cassels and Tom Hargrave; four brothers, Gwynne Owen, G.P. Owen, Bobby Owen and John David Owen; six sisters-in-law, Jane Owen, Jean Owen, Helen Owen, Kathleen Owen, Bettye Owen and Marjorie Owen; a brother-in-law, Gerald Wilson; and his first wife of 52 years, Juanita Kelly.
Survivors include his wife, Mattie Owen; three brothers, Jack Owen, Lawrence Owen and Homer Owen; a sister, Anna Jo Wilson; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Owen and Ruby Owen; numerous nieces and nephews; three stepsons, Ralph, Steve and Curtis Holloway; and a stepdaughter, Phyllis Holloway.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Ussery-Roan Veterans Home for their wonderful and excellent care of Warren.  Their caring was apparent in their actions every day.  Also, they wish to thank the residents for their kindness and caring that they showed for Mattie and Warren.
The family suggests memorials be made to Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org); Alzheimer’s Art Quilt Initiative (alzquilts.org) or Ussery-Roan Veterans Home, 1020 Tascosa Road, Amarillo, TX 79124.
