Amarillo

A.C. (Bill) Moore was born Dec. 10, 1926, and died July 22, 2024. He delighted that his birth certificate read “Born 6 miles North of Amarillo, Texas.” He was a lifelong resident of Amarillo where he had many friends and family.

At Amarillo High School, he was a Lt. Colonel in ROTC, and joined the Navy during WWII where he was deployed in the Pacific. After serving in the Navy, he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Lou Anderson. They were married for 46 years before her passing. He and many of his high school buddies met once a month for years as ROMEO’s (Retired Old Men Eating Out).

He worked with his father, his best friend, for much of his life, ranching, farming, and hog producing along with running a service station, motel, trailer park, and cafe. Bill loved hunting for fossils and artifacts as an amateur archaeologist, serving for a time as President of the Amarillo Archaeology Club. His greatest find was a Phytosaur skull which is on display at West Texas A&M University. In his 40s, Bill went back to WT for a master’s degree in computer science and worked at Pantex for 20 years until he retired in 1992. He was truly a renaissance man.

After Mary’s passing, Bill met Betty Bryan whom he married in 1994, and they traveled the world together. He was a devoted family man, a loving husband, an amazing father, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather.

Bill was predeceased by his first wife Mary, his son, David, and his grandson, Greg Rosa.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter, Denise Moore and wife Monica Capuano; sister-in-law, Donna Anderson; daughter-in-law, Jeanne Seivers and husband Mark; stepson, Craig Bryan and wife Vicki; stepdaughter, Lynn and husband Duane Rosa; grandchildren Seanor Moore; Tyson Moore and wife Elizabeth; Jeffrey Bryan and wife Suzi; Erica Patterson; Elissa Bryan; great-grandchildren McCrae, Savanah, Caden, Gate, Hayes, Maggie, Beau, and Anderson Moore, Jason Rosa, Theo, and Paige Bryan, Saylor Patterson; nieces Bette Bowers, Martha Smuts, and Carol Alexander and husband Don; nephews Jim Wilkinson and wife Sherry, and Jody Wilkinson and wife Natalie.
