Robert “Rob” Ben Lawson, 52, of Austin, died Thursday, December 13, 2012.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Rob was born on Aug, 31, 1960, in Amarillo to Buck and Lola Lawson. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1978. Following graduation, Rob attended Amarillo College and Texas State University in San Marcos from 1978 to 1982.
Rob worked for Brown Distributing while attending college in San Marcos. After college Rob moved to Austin and took a full-time position with Brown Distributing in Marketing and Sales. He worked for Brown Distributing in Marketing and Sales until 2010. Rob continued his career in Marketing and Sales until his death.
Rob was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved being outdoors. Rob was also an accomplished outdoor chef specializing in wild game recipes. He was frequently called on to cook for large groups, family, and friends. He also competed regularly in outdoor cook-offs. Rob also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and telling funny stories. He had a keen sense of humor.
Rob was preceded in death by his sister Debbie Lawson, and his father Buck Lawson.
Rob is survived by his mother Lola Ben Lawson; his brother, Andrew Lawson and wife Lori, and their children Candice and Drew; a sister Terry Jo “T.J.” and husband Jim Glenn, and their children, James Glenn and wife Lynsey, Jeff Glenn and wife Sarah, and their children, Aubrey and Tristen.
